Canvas Acrylic paint is fast drying paint containing a pigment suspension in an acrylic polymer emulsion which can be diluted with water, but become water-resistant when dry. Canvas Acrylic paint can resemble a watercolor or an oil painting, or have its own unique characteristics not attainable with other media depending on how much the paint is diluted (with water) or modified with acrylic gels, media, or pastes or the finished acrylic painting mixture.
Canvas Acrylic paintings were first made commercially available in the 1950s. The acrylic paints were mineral spirit-based paints called Magna offered by Bocour Artist Colors. The initial water-based acrylic paints were sold as latex house paints even though acrylic dispersion uses no latex derived from a rubber tree. Interior latex home paints are a combination of binder, filler, pigment and water. Exterior latex home paints may also be a co-polymer blend, but the very best exterior water-based paints are 100% acrylic. Soon after the water-based acrylic binders were made as home paint, artists and companies began to explore the idea of the new binders. This was now the time for Canvas Acrylic paintings and water-soluble artists' acrylic paints then became commercially available in the 1950s, offered by a company called Liquitex, with high-viscosity paints similar to those made today becoming available in the early 1960s.
Canvas Acrylic Painting is also used as an alternative to oil paints, because they are much faster to dry. In fact, Canvas Acrylic Painting usually dries within in an hour, and many dry in less than one minute. The amount of time it takes canvas acrylic painting on canvas acrylic paintings to dry is largely dependent upon the brand and how thickly it is applied. To lengthen the amount of time it takes for canvas acrylic painting to dry, the paints can be mixed with extenders or retarders. These products are available for from most large art companies. Adding these products extends the drying time of Canvas Acrylic Painting, making it possible to blend colors more easily with one another while working on an art piece.
Canvas Acrylic Painting is also thought to be more permanent than other types of paint. Oil paints have a tendency to turn yellow as they age and oxidize. Acrylic painting on canvas paintings, on the other hand, have shown no signs of changing, yellowing, or cracking in the fifty years since they have been invented.
Canvas Acrylic Painting can be mounted on a borderless wood frame or can be mounted with a traditional frame that best compliments the essence captured in the Canvas Acrylic Painting. Typically since Acrylic Paintings are more on the stylish side like oil painting, a frame border with classical lines and a strong classic look will best fit most homes or décor arrangements.
