                        Watercolor Paintings

                        Picture
I believe that watercolor painting is a dramatic way to express feelings and communicate to the observer scenarios and ideas. Watercolor Paintings can be effectively used to represent the artistic vision. Watercolor paintings are very much a unique way to creatively represent dreams, misdirect with illusions, exaggerate and narrate emotions, and also communicate bright feelings using water-soluble pigments. This medium of art is still very popular nowadays, and I have some very popular pieces from my water painting collection. You can view them here:

Generally speaking, over the centuries watercolor paintings have seemed to have evolved and matured into deeper and richer meaningful impressions possibly reflecting that real world natural evolution.  Although watercolor painting is extremely old, dating perhaps to the cave paintings of Paleolithic Europe, and has been used for manuscript illumination since at least Egyptian times but especially in the European Middle Ages, its continuous history as an art medium begins in the Renaissance.

Watercolor paint consists of four principal ingredients which include pigments, natural or synthetic, mineral or organic, and Arabic gum as a binder to hold the pigment in suspension and fix the pigment to the painting surface. More additives like glycerin, ox gall, honey, or preservatives alter the viscosity, hiding, and color of the pigment mixture. Solvent is used to thin or dilute the paint for application and evaporates when the paint dries.
When painting watercolor paintings, one always tries to capture the moment and the essence before casting the brush to the canvas as this amplifies the lines and holds the colors to a more stringent palette. Painting with a strong brush will typically layout hard lines in a Watercolor Painting. Most artists tend to begin their master piece Watercolor Paintings by drawing out the idea or vision with light pencil lines. This technique keeps the colors and lines in check as watercolor painting has a knack of moving the vision away and bleeding lines.
The Land & Seascape watercolor paintings on Sandy Kay Art website are real locations with real feeling and real essence in their creation. Extra time and attention is in every detail and can be noticed through the use of rigid lines and exacting water color paint. Various solvents and additives are pre-added into most of the art tools nowadays so excessive cracking will never happen in the life time of the Watercolor Painting even if it is stretched.
